2009 Classical Brit Awards

Myleene Klass hosted the Classical Brit Awards, but she made sure she was center of attention on the red carpet.

The Singer and TV presenter graced the red carpet looking like an elegant swan, wearing a white strapless Joe Challita gown, with a black waist belt.

I love the sweetheart neckline, and the lace ruffled skirt and train.

Her only piece of bling, was her gold Erickson Beamon cuff.

Myleene later changed into another strapless gown. This time it was a pillar box red ruffled Jasper Conran gown, with a rise and fall hem.

The skirt of the gown showed off her nude Christian Louboutin heels.

Cute, but I much prefer the first gown.

Classical singer Katherine Jenkins arrived at this event wearing a lilac J Mendel gown, with a very interesting gathered neckline.

For some reason I feel more drawn to her fan shaped clutch, than her gown.

Katherine changed into a pink embellished gown, for her performance with tenor Placido Domingo.

The pink is cute, but I really have huge disliking for gowns with nude illusions. It evokes images of ice-skaters.

Who Wore Christian Dior Better? Taylor Momsen Or Goldie Hawn

Posted on May 20, 2012 by admin

Taylor Momsen wore this Christian Dior Spring 2008 dress back in January to a “Golden Globes” after party thrown by Warner Bros and InStyle.

Part of me thinks that Taylor has somehow made this dress suit her gothic style and the other part wishes she hadn’t butchered such an elegant gown. I’m really in two minds!

I do love the heavy jewelry she’s teamed it with though.

I just wish she would have made an effort with her hair and make-up.

Goldie Hawn wore this dress to the “Nine Premiere” in New York last month.

Finally some glamour! By wearing the dress with a Dennis Basso’s white mink capelet and long gloves, Goldie injects some much needed sophistication into this look.

I do wish though that they’d both gone for a sleek updo as the dress is fussy enough with all those tiers.

In my opinion Goldie wins for doing the dress justice.

Michelle Williams In Azzaro – “Blue Valentine” New York Premiere

Michelle Williams was in New York City last night to attend the Premiere of her new movie, “Blue Valentine.”

She gave us our second Azzaro Spring 2011 look in as many days.

Michelle looked adorable wearing a sleeveless Azzaro dress with an embellished bodice and tiered skirt with was accented with a velvet black blow.

Some of you have noted that Michelle’s last few looks have aged her, but I’m sure you’ll agree that she looks both elegant and youthful here.

She paired her dress with Charlotte Olympia platform heels, a Judith Leiber clutch and really heavy black pumps.

On this occasion I like the way her hair is styled, but I’m still longing for her to return to her natural colour which I can no longer picture in my minds-eye.

Blake Lively In Vivienne Westwood – The Realm Boutique Opening

For a long while I’ve been telling you guys that Blake Lively doesn’t have a stylist.

Some of you don’t believe this to be true, but you may change your mind when you see Blake on red carpet at the Realm Boutique Opening in New York City last night.

No self respecting stylist would ever allow Blake to leave the house looking this bad.

The ‘Gossip Girl’ actress wore a blue oversized man’s shirt with a black sparkling high-waisted skirt.

It gets worse.

She accessorized with a tan belt and black Chanel ankle boots.

Individually the pieces aren’t too bad, but together this is an epic failure.

The worse thing about this look is that the blouse peeking over her skirt is so clearly deliberate.

The tragic thing is that Blake thinks this is fashion forward.

The sad thing is that she thinks she looks amazing.

Update: It looks like Blake did take this look straight from the runway of Vivienne Westwood’s Fall 2010 Red Label collection.

Blasblog: Rufus Wainwright May Let Karl Lagerfeld Make Him Over

I’ve seen Rufus Wainwright perform in all sorts of places: the great outdoors over a year ago at the Last Song of Summer fundraiser for Robert Wilson’s Watermill Center, and then an elementary-school gymnasium a couple months back for the same benefit. There was the rousing revival of Judy Garland hits at Carnegie Hall, and then a gay piano bar on the L.E.S. In each one, the singer-songwriter and, as of this summer, opera composer, was the same: engaging, funny, and truly terrific. Tomorrow night, Wainwright returns to Carnegie Hall with a group of musicians including sister Martha Wainwright, Courtney Love, and Scarlett Johansson for a Gavin Friday and Friends concert to benefit (RED). On his playlist will be many of the songs from Milwaukee at Last!!!, his recording of a live performance in the Midwestern town, released last month. I sat down with Wainwright to talk about that concert, the Albert Maysles documentary that coincides with it, and, of course, his relationship with fashion.

Who Wore Camilla & Marc Better? Fergie or Julianne Hough

Last year Fergie showed off her sexy well-toned figure wearing a Camilla & Marc Carletta jersey mini dress to the “Nine” LA Premiere.

Her black jersey dress with daring cutout detail and statement shoulders was teamed with t-bar heels and a gold trimmed black clutch.

Julianne Hough wore the same dress recently to the 2010 MTV Movie Awards.

She also interestingly carried a similar clutch, but opted for suede pumps.

The other interesting difference is that Julianne’s dress has been modified so that the cut-out detail on her dress is a lot less revealing.

Fergie wins for me because she wore her hair back, therefore not covering all the detail on her dress like Julianne.

This Camilla & Marc dress is available to purchase from Net-A-Porter.com.

Emma Roberts In Christian Dior – 2011 People’s Choice Awards

Should’ve Worn The Runway Colour Award
When I saw Emma Roberts on the red carpet at the 2011 People’s Choice Awards, I wondered if she has been taking style tips from her Aunt Julia Roberts who loves black.

It makes me wonder because why would someone so young and cute opt out of wearing this Christian Dior Spring 2011 dress in purple?

Granted the black ruffled version has an air sophistication which befits the young actress, but her look would’ve been more fun in purple with a contrasting belt.

Do you agree?

Carla Amorim rose gold ‘Planetary’ earrings, a black Miu Miu clutch and Brian Atwood Maniac pumps completed her look.

Happy Birthday, Rachel Roy

Posted on May 16, 2012 by admin

Many people stop announcing their birthdays quite as loudly once they head north of 35, but not Rachel Roy: The designer turns 36 on January 15 and she wants everyone to know it. (If we were as gorgeous as she is, we might want everyone to know it, too.) The announcement, though, comes for all the right reasons: In lieu of having a party or accepting gifts this year, Roy is requesting donations be made to Charity: Water to bring clean drinking water to those in need. The goal is $15,000; almost $3,000 has been raised so far, by Rachel herself and a few generous—not to mention familiar—well-wishers. We’d never be so crass as to name names (for that, you’ll have to click through to her donation page). Let’s just say a gift will not only bring you good karma, but put you in good company, too.—Staff

Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2010 Couture

Posted on May 15, 2012 by admin
No Comments

Dior’s Spring 2010 Couture collection had many references, but Alexandre Vauthier’s Spring 2010 Couture collection had one – Power dressing.

The collection included bold peaked shoulders, most with plunging necklines and some with asymmetrical necklines.

The colour palette consisted of bold blood reds, electric blues, goblin greens and muted black. One black plunging dress was paired with a large sequined belt for a sexier vibe.

The sequined pieces really stood out, even the black jumpsuit.

But it’s the red dress I would wish to see on the red carpet.

Rihanna is a huge fan of Alexandre Vauthier, so lets hope she brings some of these pieces to the red carpet at some point.

The Grammy’s are on Sunday night. Perfect showcase for both the red carpet and that blue sequin leotard would make a great stage costume.

Breath-taking collection.
